How old is a kitten usually when they begin to shed?

I bought a brush when I first brought home my two kittens (they are now 11 weeks old). When I try to brush them, nothing comes onto the brush. They don’t shed on the furniture either. Should I still brush them to get them used to grooming, or wait until they are older and need it?
I believe the cats are domestic short hair cats.

They’re young for shedding now. My cat didn’t begin shedding until she was around a year old. There was literally no hair ever, and I thought she was a miracle cat haha. I spoke to soon because shortly after that she was projectile throwing her hair everywhere. Now she’s a shed-monster.

well there is no true answer for that. not all cats shed. i have 2 cats and one sheds and the other does not. so you might not have to even use the brush!

My vet told me that long haired or medium haired cats don’t shed anymore then a short haired! Anyway, usually around 6 to 8 months but it also depends on the cat itself. Hope I helped! :) My medium haired kitten started shedding around 9 months so it could very well vary.
